Are you ready for Thanksgiving or panicking? If you still need to do some shopping the Green City Market is open tomorrow and welcomes you at the Peggy Notebaert Museum. The chef demonstration at 10:30 will be Rick Bayless of Frontera Grill, Topolobampo and XOCO. The pictures above, include “local in a jar”, a rainbow of picked vegetables from Bushell & Pecks, red kuri squash from Genesis Growers, and the beautiful insides of a watermelon radish from Leaning Shed Farms, all of whom will be at the Green City Market tomorrow!

Holiday market season is upon us and some coming up to take note of are: Ms. Mint’s 2012 Holiday Bazaar on Tuesday Dec. 4th from 4-9:30pm at Goose Island Brewpub, 1800 North Clybourn. Kate Gross has an eye and nose for unique agricultural products from all over the midwest and a Tuesday late afternoon/early evening is an easy time to drive or train it into the city and miss the holiday traffic and crowds. Another fun market coming up is FeteChicago, a pop-up food & design night market organized by Heather Sperling, another one who has a sharp eye for cool things. It’s happens Thursday December 6 from 6pm to 10pm at Room 1520, 1520 West Fulton St. Co-op Image is having their holiday bazaar on Saturday December 1 and it benefits all the programs that they provide.

We try to be inclusive of events but miss some, some sites to check out for further detail on sustainable food, urban ag, workshops/events are the Illinois Stewardship Alliance out of Springfield, their facebook page is here, we “like” them, and the other group is here in Chicago, Advocates for Urban Agriculture, we “like” them as well.

Lots to do, the farmers’ markets choices are a little slim this weekend (farmers need a break now and then too) but the fall/winter markets will pick up again Saturday December 1, now on to the weeks ahead!!!
