What a Sustainable Meat Operation Looks Like – Farm Tour – Cedar Valley – Saturday

It seems like daily, we learn of the damages committed in the name of cheap meat production.  Whether it is damage to the local environment or effects from the use of various drugs on the confined animals, we recoil at modern practices (even, unfortunately, too many of us avail themselves of cheap meat).  Want to see what it’s supposed to look like?  One of our favorite local farms, Cedar Valley, opens their fields this Saturday, May 7 from 2 PM to 4 PM, to the public.  They have NOTHING to hide.

You’ll see where all the great meat & eggs come from, meet some of the animals, and enjoy the beauty of springtime on the farm.  Their first group of chicks will be in the brooder! Bring your camera… the redbuds are in bloom.

Cedar Valley CSA members & families are free.  Non-members $20 per family.  You can go to their Facebook page to RSVP or learn more.

Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm is located at 1985 N. 3609th Road, Ottawa, Illinois
