Organic Produce Production
Overall farm management: work to maximize production on approx .02 acres of tillable soil on a 4000 sq ft. roof top farm in the city of Chicago
Seed starting/selection, soil fertility, irrigation, crop rotation, all farm & indoor/outdoor green space maintenance (includes second restaurant location earth box/planter boxes), harvest, seed saving, supply inventory
All written & photographic documentation and organic certification paperwork
Composting & Vermi-culture
Integrate production of farm with chefs for use on restaurant menus
Eventually develop year round organic produce production (micro-greens)
Beekeeping
Hive Maintenance and Management
Mentoring program
Honey Harvest
Intern & Volunteer Management
Job Descriptions, Interviews, Hiring, Scheduling, Training, Mentoring
Educational Programming
System of presentation/talks/tours for a variety of age groups and interests
Develop tour scheduling system
Website blog updated weekly and Farm page presence updated monthly
PowerPoint presentation creation and upkeep
Uncommon Ground staff meeting presentations
Advocate for Urban Agriculture/ Green Room Sessions
Off premise involvement representing Uncommon Ground on behalf of the Farm
Attend MOSES conference, Family Farmed conference and any related meetings that apply
Develop relationships with like-minded people to create a strong Urban Agriculture community
Farmer’s Market Open House
Involvement and presence in Farmer’s market coordinate with interns for open house tours
