Meet the Beet @ Eli’s Cheesecake – Thursday
It’s Beet Day, Tweet Day, Family Day, Farmer Day, it’s a very full agenda this Thursday, July 23 at Eli’s. Myself and the Sustainable Cook, Melissa Graham will be manning the Local Beet market table during the day. We are there to answer any of your eat local questions, maybe even give a composting tip or two. Besides talking sustainable, Melissa will have on her Purple Asparagus Chief Stalk toque on and will be leading her usual round of engaging family-friendly activities. On top of that, Eli’s promises a few more surprises for the young ‘uns.
Wait, there’s more: At 1 PM Melissa and I are the featured speakers in the regular Local Food Systems lecture series. We will see how many of our 18 point system of eating local we can cover in one hour.
Chad Nichols should be a-grillin’ something at his stand. Piedt will have peaches and other Michigan fruits. They serve an excellent hamburger for lunch. And when you get even slightly bored, do my favorite thing there, eat cheesecake samples. See ya tomorrow!
