Local on This Week’s Vie Tasting Menu

June 1, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Should not we say, what is NOT local on this week’s tasting menu at Vie, in Western Springs?  Still, the latest tasting menu highlights some fun seasonal, regional products: three sisters pea shoots, roasted caveny farm pecans, local nettles, wood-grilled mint creek farm lamb t-bone, klug farm strawberries, etc.  $70.

Need an excuse?  $7 from each tasting menu goes to Wellness House of Hinsdale.  Established in 1990, Wellness House is a community-based independent organization that offers psychosocial support, education and information, as a complement to medical treatment to cancer patients, their families and friends. Wellness House exists to improve the quality of life for people whose lives are affected by cancer and its treatment. Program offerings include: support groups, education programs, classes focusing on nutrition, exercise and stress reduction, bereavement counseling and programs for children who have a loved one with cancer. Wellness House has a comprehensive library that includes cancer specific information from the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society. Services are provided at no charge to participants. Funding comes from individual contributors, organizations, corporations and foundations.
