A friend from Unity Temple decided to organize a chicken support meeting and advertised in our Sunday bulletin.  As I have been keeping chickens longer than she has, I hosted.  Friends told two friends and so on and so on.  20 people showed up this past Sunday to learn more!  Only half the group was from church.  The enthusiasm was awesome. We decided to meet once a month to discuss backyard agriculture.  Upcoming topics include composting and how to take advantage of those rain barrels we all installed in the last few years but still have not quite figured out how best to utilize.  Book and film discussions, worm bin details, and horse manure gathering field trips are all in the works.   I write this to encourage all of you flying solo in your backyard adventures to reach out.  Help, information and community are only one meet-up away!  If you offer it, they will come.  And you will benefit.
