The Local Beet is very proud to be associated this year with Eli's Cheese Cake, their farmer's market and their Local Food Lecture Series. The Local Food Lecture Series is intended firstly for students at Chicago's Agriculture High School, but it is also very much open to the public and offers an outstanding way to learn about local foods. Included in the presentations this year is one by the Beet's Robert Gardner and Melissa Graham. Other speakers include Chris Kotke of Kendall College and Debbie Hillman and Jim Braun, who have been successfully shepherding food law changes through Illinois. In addition to the speakers, the Eli's Market will host an array of activities, one of our favorites being free breakfast with a $5 market purchase! Representatives from the Local Beet will be at the market on many of the market days to answer questions. Do stop by to say hi.
