Local Flavors – Downstate Farm-to-Table Series of Lunch and Dinner Events Kicks off Today
Local Flavors, a farm-to-table series of lunch and dinner events at restaurants is set to kick off today across Central Illinois. Local Flavors features locally produced foods from area farmers with events this year in Springfield, Champaign-Urbana, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
The events increase the use of locally grown and produced foods and raise awareness about the ways everyone can support local farmers and the restaurants that support them. This program will also connect local farmers to area restaurants, retailers, institutions, farmers’ markets and consumers within the Central Illinois region. Participating restaurants agree to create a lunch or dinner special featuring local foods from area farmers that highlight fresh, seasonal, and locally produced ingredients.
Local Flavors is a program of the Buy Fresh Buy Local Central Illinois Chapter. These events will run from now until October. More information can be found at The Illinois Stewardship Alliance.
