The Local Calendar 8/8/12 Drought Aid Continues, The Colors of Summer
When I first saw swiss chard at the beginning of the season I was amazed at the colors and I still am. These rainbow chard were on the tables of Lyons Fruit Farm at the Logan Square Market on Sunday.
Have you been out to a farm dinner yet? City Provisions still has seats left for their farm dinner at Q7 Ranch, with Few Spirits and 5 Rabbits Brewery on Saturday August 18th and they even provide a bus to take you to and from the ranch so you can totally unwind and not worry about the drive.
With Drought Aid 2012 for Harvest Moon Farms continuing, this time Farmhouse Chicago is having Draughts for Drought Aid, August 6th – 12th, with 50% of the revenues from 4 beers on tap going towards Harvest Moon Farms need. The Draught for Drought Aid will culminate in a party on Sunday, August 12th from 2-6pm.

Chicago – Seedling Farm + Goat Collaboration Dinner – Seedling lost a lot of their apple crop due to the warm weather then frost this Spring. Held at the Underground Goat 6:30pm $195 This dinner is to help the farm and celebrate the fruit that it produces.
NEW!! Chicago- Evening at the Greenhouse- Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse 3501 N. Kilbourn 6-8pm Chef Jeff Adamek and Pastry Chef Jennifer Templeton will create sweet and savory appetizers using fresh ingredients harvested straight from their garden. The event will also include Half Acre Beer, Virtue Cider and sparkling sodas made from fruit from the garden. Hans and LeRoy Bach will perform live jazz guitar. The silent auction will include garden themed items as well as gift certificates to area businesses. This family-friendly fundraising event will kick off the first phase of their campaign to develop the new Nature’s Playground, a natural play space within the garden, and to improve the infrastructure of the greenhouse. Our goal is to raise enough funds to build an interactive play structure in the Nature’s Playground and to install circulation and exhaust fans in the main greenhouse. $45 here
