Weekly Winter Market, Weekly – Geneva

November 10, 2010 at 10:20 am

One of the best opportunities to stay local, all year, remains in the far Western regions of Chicagoland.  As in the last several years, you can do your winter shopping at the Community Winter Market in Geneva.  The market meets on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Last week the market was full of autumn bounty: abundant squash, lettuces, broccoli, kale, chard, onions, potatoes, leeks and cabbage.  There were even some tomatoes available.  Plus, there are meat vendors with humanely raised chicken, pork and beef, and both chicken and duck eggs.  Curds & Whey Cheese Company has it’s stand in the building, featuring local and imported artisan cheeses.  Also featured are fresh breads and pastries, apples, gelato, and light lunch items from Inglenook Pantry.

The market is in the Inglenook Pantry building at 11 N 5th Ave in Geneva.  This market will run through the winter; check the website for current information on hours and availability.
