We all need to get on the farm.  See where our food.  Get our finger’s dirty.  A few of us went earlier this summer to help Farmer Vicki who needed some help. Now, we have another chance to hang with the sustainable crowd.  On October 10, 2010 folks are participating in a “Crop Mob” at Spence Farm in Livingston, Illinois.  As reported along the Internets, a Crop Mob

Was coined by city dwellers who have an interest in sustainable agriculture and would like to help more than just by going to the farmer’s market or joining a CSA. The “Crop Mob” gives the farmer(s) a valuable source of volunteer labor.

You can take a bio-diesel bus to the farm, reap the harvest, and learn about how the Travis family reaches into our food past with forgotten products like Iroquois corn, sorghum, cattail shoots and ramps.

That bus will leave from City Provisions Deli & Catering, located at 1818 W. Wilson, Chicago at 9:00 a.m, although they are asking everyone to be at the Deli by 830.  You can read more about the event and RSVP here or here.

We strongly endorse this event, and hope to see you on Sunday.
