Farm Dinner Recap
A little over a week ago we threw our first ever farm dinner. The event took place at Genesis Growers in St. Anne, IL and the dinner was prepared by our own Sustainable Cook, Melissa Graham of Monnograme Events and Catering.
We were thrilled to have full tables of hungry diners and they were met with appetizers made from farm-fresh produce.
A number of people got a chance to taste Tom Keith’s Local Beet Beer.
Then, Farmer Vicki gave us a tour of part of her farm where we learned quite a bit about organic farming.

We sat down to a delicious dinner…
…and then the rains came. There was a serious downpour all during the meal, which was great for Farmer Vicki but made our dinner a bit damp. This put a kibosh on the photography, but didn’t damper everyone’s mood. We dined on grilled chicken with salsa verde and a wide array of salads and vegetables all sourced from Genesis Growers. Melissa’s pear tart was a runaway dessert hit.
We had a great time and a great meal thanks to Vicki and Melissa. Next year we’ll try and order up a day without rain.
