We firmly believe at the Local Beet that eating local is not an all or nothing proposition. If a bit of traif touches our lips, we will still go to heaven. We know there are many times it is not just possible to eat local. Still, when possible, do what I did tonight, and eat local enough.
In desperate need for extra credit, one of the local daughters needed to go to a performance at OPRF High. This greatly cut into din-din time. Luckily, we had the solution. Flatbreads baked by Eastern Breadstone Bakery on Devon. We had veggie, meat, zatar and potato. It took only a few minutes in the toaster oven to get these in ideal fare. It would have been an OK quick dinner as-is, but we made it local enough instead.
That is, we added some green lettuce salad (because we have salad leaves coming out of our ears in the Bungalow) and a plate of red radishes, because we have radishes coming out of our ears and I want my bile to flow and much as possible.
It helps the local quotient to have some of Farmer Vicki’s strawberries around for dessert.
