1,000 Things to Eat
Despite the fact that we have so many food related books that we have taken to piling them in corners, we continue to buy. After all, Borders sends us a coupon each week. Last week, I purchased the new Stern’s book, 500 Things to Eat Before It’s Too Late, and yesterday I purchased Frommer’s 500 Places for Food & Wine Lovers. That gives me 1,000 places deemed book worthy to be at soon. (As an aside, I decided to pass on Frommer’s 500 Places to Take Your Kids Before They Grow Up because I figured with one daughter already 15, we’d never make it.)
Surprisingly, at least for me, I counted only about fifty places in the Frommer’s that I’ve been to, so I have a lot of work cut out for me. On the other hand, I’ve put a huge dent in the Stern’s list already. For instance, I’ve sampled nearly all of the foodstuffs listed for the Midwest. The Stern’s divide the nation into five regions, and amonst those other four areas, I can claim many trophies.
